CUPRA KIRO charges into Berlin E-Prix after Jakarta win
Fresh from its maiden victory in Jakarta, CUPRA KIRO heads to Germany to contest the penultimate race weekend of the 2024/25 season – the Berlin E-Prix
The Berlin E-Prix marks the penultimate race weekend of the 2024/25 Formula E season, and with London’s highly anticipated finale fast-approaching, the series’ upcoming German double-header is set to be pivotal.
CUPRA KIRO heads to Berlin after taking a landmark maiden victory at the Jakarta E-Prix in June. With an upwards performance trajectory and constantly growing momentum, the American squad is aiming to return to the podium once again.
From David Beckmann celebrating his home race to Bianca Bustamante and Callum Voisin stepping into the cockpit for Monday’s Rookie Test, CUPRA KIRO is ready for everything that Berlin has to offer.
Discover The Circuit
Formula E has raced in Berlin since its inaugural 2014/15 season, and aside from a one-off appearance at Strausberger Platz in 2016, the Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit has hosted 19 of the series’ 20 races in the German capital.
In Season 10, Formula E introduced a new track configuration in Berlin, but regardless of layout, Tempelhof presents one challenge greater than all others: its surface.
As a former airfield, Tempelhof’s surface was designed with one primary purpose – slowing aircraft down. This means that it is highly abrasive to produce immense friction levels.
If not managed correctly, high tyre temperatures can wreak havoc on performance, meaning that temperature regulation will be critical across the weekend, both in Qualifying lap preparation, and over long distances in each race.
Last Time Out
After narrowly missing out on its second podium of the season in Shanghai, CUPRA KIRO held high hopes when it touched down in Indonesia for the Jakarta E-Prix.
With few overtaking opportunities and a dusty circuit to contend with, Qualifying was crucial and by securing fifth on the grid, Dan Ticktum was in a prime position to challenge in the race.
The Brit had a measured start, but by taking advantage of a well-executed Attack Mode strategy, he was soon on the move by battling into the top three while simultaneously closing in on the lead.
A pair of late caution periods played into Dan’s favour, and after sailing to the front and fending off pressure from behind, he remained in control to take a landmark maiden win for CUPRA KIRO.
By adding 25 points to his total for the 2024/25 season, Dan holds fifth in the Drivers’ Championship, just 23 points adrift of second. CUPRA KIRO, meanwhile, is ninth in the Teams’ Standings with 80 points, nine off Maserati MSG Racing and just 13 points adrift of Jaguar.

Alex Hui, Team Principal, CUPRA KIRO
“As we head into Berlin, the stakes have never been higher. Jakarta gave us our first taste of victory, and it was a fantastic feeling, but now it’s back to business because in our long-term vision, we’re only at the start of what we want to achieve. Berlin presents a different kind of challenge this weekend, and Tempelhof’s notorious surface can make it a brutal circuit to drive on. From FP1, we will need to be smart and mindful of our tyre management and strategy. From this moment until the flag waves in London, every point counts and our focus, resilience, and belief as a team is what has gotten us to this point. Over the past 12 months, we have experienced an incredible journey, but if there’s one thing that we’ve learned during that time, it’s that anything is achievable – it takes hard work and perseverance, and the first step is believing in a goal. Berlin will be tough, but I’m confident that we can fight at the front.”
Dan Ticktum, Driver, CUPRA KIRO
“Personally, Berlin is one of my least favourite circuits on the calendar, but I like the venue and setting a lot. Tempelhof has some interesting history, Berlin is a very cool place, and I do think we could be quite strong there over the weekend. We’re coming to Germany off the back of a race win and I’m hoping to build on that momentum over the final two weekends of the season. I’m happy with our progress, I’m enjoying racing with the team, and hopefully, we can pick up some more points to potentially finish inside the top five in the championship.”
David Beckmann, Driver, CUPRA KIRO
“I’m really looking forward to my home race, and overall, Berlin is one of the best races of the season. In Jakarta, the team had a very good performance, and I’m looking to capitalise upon that potential and maintaining our pace at Tempelhof. This weekend is a double-header so we have two opportunities to score points, and I want to push the limits, and get everything I can out of the car for the second to last weekend of the season.”
Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer, CUPRA KIRO
“Berlin is the penultimate race weekend of the season, and we’re now at a phase where performance and precision will define our success. After our victory in Jakarta, our focus is now on maintaining our momentum at one of the most demanding circuits on the schedule. Tempelhof’s unique surface will test our tyre management like never before, and with Pit Boost returning on Saturday, raw execution will be key to unlocking strong results. Beyond the race weekend, we’re also very excited to see Bianca [Bustamante] and Callum [Voisin] step into the cockpit for Monday’s Rookie Test. Their involvement is a critical part of our development strategy and reinforces our commitment to building a competitive future. We’re fully prepared to push hard in Berlin and flat-out until the end of the season.”
