CUPRA KIRO scores crucial points in chaotic Berlin E-Prix
CUPRA KIRO finishes ninth in challenging wet weather Berlin E-Prix
CUPRA KIRO kick-started the penultimate weekend of the 2024/25 Formula E season inside the top 10, with Dan Ticktum fighting to ninth place in the first part of the double-header 2025 Berlin E-Prix.
Wet weather caused FP2 and the duel stages of Qualifying to be cancelled, with results from Group A and Group B instead forming the grid. Due to penalties elsewhere in the field, Dan lined up eighth, while David Beckmann started from 18th.
David ran well in his first home race in Formula E and was within touching distance of the top 10 but was forced to retire following late contact with Sergio Sette Camara.
Dan saved both Attack Mode deployments for late in the race and used the extra power to battle back from 13th to finish ninth following a late Safety Car.

“Today has been very challenging, and with the wet weather significantly reducing our available track time, and then tearing up the Qualifying format, it could have been easy to lose momentum. Instead, we adapted as a team, and Dan delivered a drive that was measured and aggressive when it needed to be to bring home a hard-earned points finish. David also showed some good pace and racecraft, and while his result doesn’t tell the full story of his day, we know that he’s edging closer to a breakthrough result. The most important thing is that in the face of some tricky and adaptable conditions, we got some points on the board and at this stage of the season, scoring points is the most important thing. We’ll regroup tonight, go again tomorrow, and continue chasing the calibre of performance that we know we’re all capable of.”
Dan Ticktum, Driver, CUPRA KIRO
“A bit of an average day. In Qualifying we struggled with traction in general which cost us some time. We then made some big setup changes for the race which were in the right direction for the wet, but not necessarily for the dry and unfortunately, the track dried out quite a lot. We were quite lucky to get the Safety Car at the end, but then we were unlucky because there was an incident in Turn 6, and I lost four places because I had to go around the outside. It was a series of unfortunate events. It could have been better, but it could have been worse, and we need to put that one behind us. Hopefully we can have a better day tomorrow.”
David Beckmann, Driver, CUPRA KIRO
“After a difficult Qualifying, we were having a decent race until the moment I got taken out by another driver. We had good pace, were on a good strategy, and we were in a strong position at the end with both Attack Modes remaining, and an energy advantage. On a drying track, it was a good opportunity to get into the points, but the contact destroyed our race. We’ll fight back tomorrow.”
Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer, CUPRA KIRO
“Today we had a complex race in which we had to balance a lot of different factors. We need to review a lot of data tonight, analyse our strategy, and see how we would approach a similar race in the future. We’re anticipating another day of mixed weather tomorrow, so it will be very important for us to maximise all our learnings from today during the night. We know that we have more potential than we showed today, and we’re excited for tomorrow.”
