CUPRA KIRO takes points at home in Miami
CUPRA KIRO and Dan Ticktum battle forward to seventh at the 2025 Miami E-Prix
CUPRA KIRO secured the best result of its debut Formula E season to date at the 2025 Miami E-Prix, with driver, Dan Ticktum, delivering the American team with a seventh-place finish on home soil.
The squad went to Miami following an intensive development window over the course of the Spring break and showed encouraging early pace by placing inside the top 10 in the first practice session of the weekend.
In Qualifying, this performance was validated by David Beckmann who secured his best grid position of the year by advancing to the duels from Group A to start eighth. Dan, meanwhile, lined up 15th after grappling with a drop in tyre performance during his final flying lap.
With the Homestead-Miami Speedway having high levels of energy sensitivity, energy management was critical in the race, and over the opening phase, Dan and David settled into a consistent saving rhythm.
While David remained within the reaches of the top 10 at the start, Dan strategically dropped back in the field by under-consuming energy, with the duo later leveraging Attack Mode to fight back up the order.
After running in 15th, David took his first Attack Mode on lap 12 to battle forward to 11th and was on the verge of returning to the top 10 before contact resulted in a puncture and suspension damage forced him into the pit lane, halting his progress.
This left Dan as CUPRA KIRO’s lead challenger, and by saving both Attack Mode deployments for late in the race, the Briton was able to surge from 20th to 14th until action was paused on lap 21 following a multi-car collision.
Following a red flag period, the race was resumed with a standing start on lap 22 of 26, and with one Attack Mode remaining, Dan held a key strategic advantage in the final run to the chequered flag.
With a clean restart, Dan took his final Attack Mode immediately and worked his way into 11th at the line, but due to a number of drivers failing to take their Attack Mode, was promoted to seventh post-race – CUPRA KIRO’s best result in Formula E.
The FIA Formula E World Championship’s 2024/25 season will continue with the double-header Monaco E-Prix on 3-4 May.

“The team has worked very hard from the moment we touched down in Miami, and it feels great to secure another points finish this weekend. After Jeddah, we put all of our energy and focus into improving our package, and after seeing some encouraging progress, I think it’s evident that we’ve turned a corner. Today’s race was a game of patience, and from eighth and 15th on the grid, we had a lot of strategy options available to us. Our strategy was to drop back and save energy at the start, build an offset, and then use Attack Mode to fight forward, and Dan and David drove very well. After having his best Qualifying of the season, David picked up a puncture in the race but every weekend, we’re seeing him make progress. For Dan, his battle through the field was strong, and he put the car in the perfect position to pick up the pieces when it mattered the most. With an intense run of races coming up in Monaco, Tokyo, and Shanghai, momentum will be more important than ever, and hopefully, we’ll be able to carry this form with us over the coming races.”
Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer, CUPRA KIRO
“We’ve had an exciting few days here at our first home race in Miami, and it feels great to be back out on track after a long break in the calendar. Overall, we’re leaving with a mixture of emotions with a lot of positives to take but still plenty of areas in which we can improve. It was good to see David reach the duels for the first time this season, and it has been positive to see him making consistent progress on his one lap pace, but it was a shame that he didn’t get to deliver on his full potential in a challenging and dynamic race. We put Dan on a super saving strategy from the outset, and he executed the race very well to come away with points. With back-to-back top 10s, it's good to be scoring points and we’re looking forward to Monaco.”

“We didn’t quite start this weekend with the car in the right window in terms balance, so we had a little bit of catching up to do. In Qualifying, I never really felt like I got into much of a rhythm which is difficult at a new circuit, but in the race, we were doing everything right. We saved a lot at the start, got a good energy advantage, but the Safety Car and the Red Flag screwed our chance of being able to capitalise on that extra energy. It was a bit of a shame in that respect, but we did everything we could and with the penalties ahead, it was good to get some points. Everyone in the team is working very hard, and I’d like to thank them for all of their efforts. Hopefully, we can be more competitive in Monaco.”
David Beckmann, Driver, CUPRA KIRO
“An eventful weekend here in Miami. Overall, we had very good pace in Qualifying and made definite improvements in comparison to Jeddah. Unfortunately, I was pushed off the track in the race by another and got a puncture which meant that I had to box which cost me too much time. We’ve made some good improvements in the car which is very positive, the team is continuing to do an excellent job, and I’m proud of everyone for working so hard. If we can maintain our one lap pace and have better luck in the races, I think we could have a good result in Monaco.”
