CUPRA* KIRO heads to Miami for first home race in Formula E
CUPRA* KIRO looks ahead to its first home race in the FIA Formula E World Championship – the 2025 Miami E-Prix
With the stage set and the countdown almost over, CUPRA* KIRO is heading to Florida, USA, to contest its landmark first home race in the FIA Formula E World Championship – the 2025 Miami E-Prix.
Held at the iconic Homestead-Miami Speedway, which will swap stock car racing for the high-octane action of electric motorsport, the event marks Formula E’s first race in Miami in more than 10 years.
After making a thrilling visit to the city in March for EVO Sessions, where the team joined forces with Latin America’s top automotive influencer, JUCA, and the global sensation, MrBeast, CUPRA* KIRO is ready to deliver an unforgettable home performance like no other.
Discover the Circuit
Since opening its doors in 1995, Homestead-Miami Speedway has hosted every major North American racing category including NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA, and this weekend, will host Formula E for the very first time.
As the fifth circuit in the United States to hold a Formula E race, the track brings a fresh challenge and with no historical data at hand, every driver and team will be starting from a level platform, opening a host of opportunities up and down the grid.
The road course layout of Homestead-Miami Speedway measures 3.551 kilometres which makes it the longest track of the 2024/25 season, and thanks to high levels of energy sensitivity, places high demand on energy management and conservation.
With 15 corners – including the addition of a temporary chicane after Turn 9 – the track presents a varied challenge, but with a high-commitment first corner and high-speed final sector, Homestead is a circuit that will reward confidence and precision in equal measure.
Last Time Out
After finishing inside the top 10 on debut at the season-opening São Paulo E-Prix, CUPRA* KIRO picked up its current form in Saudi Arabia by claiming another points finish on the shore of the Red Sea at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
With evident pace in the CUPRA* KIRO package, drivers, Dan Ticktum and David Beckmann, were in high spirits, but after missing out on a potential points finish on Friday, regrouped to tackle Saturday with renewed focus and energy.
By securing another top 10 start in Qualifying, Dan established himself as a key contender and battled among the lead group in Race 2, but despite coming under pressure in the final stages, held on to claim a hard-fought ninth – his second points finish of the season.
Hear From CUPRA* KIRO
Alex Hui, Team Principal, CUPRA* KIRO
“As our home event, the Miami E-Prix is a very special race for everyone at CUPRA* KIRO and is the perfect way to resume Season 11. After the long break since Jeddah, the whole team is eager to get back out on track so we can continue to build upon the promise and growing momentum we’ve shown in recent races. From Miami onwards, we enter a very intense run of races in some of the world’s most iconic cities including Monaco, Tokyo, and Shanghai, so we took advantage of March to refine our car performance and get ahead for the coming months. As a new circuit with high levels of energy sensitivity, Homestead will present a fresh challenge for everyone on the grid, but we have a very strong understanding of our package. Because of this, I believe we have the makings of a team that can rise to glory and bring light from the darkness. This team can be the heroes on the Wheaties box. We’re ready to give Miami our all.”
Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer, CUPRA* KIRO
“Homestead-Miami Speedway is the second brand new circuit of Season 11, meaning that every team is effectively starting from a clean slate. Without any historic data to rely on, our preparation in the simulator will be critical to the weekend and from our first lap on track, adaptability and versatility will be key. The biggest challenge will be the effective management of the race, and how we strategically use Attack Mode, which will be very powerful again this weekend, to our advantage. We’re anticipating that the race will start quite conservatively with an energy saving phase, but it’s also likely that a number of cars will prioritise energy saving at a later stage. The inflection point could be very dynamic, and subject to who is leading and their own individual strategy. The battle for the points scoring positions could run right through to the last corner on the final lap.”
Dan Ticktum, Driver, CUPRA* KIRO
“Miami is going to be a big event for the team, and as our first proper home race, we’ll have a lot of people in attendance. It comes after quite a big gap in the calendar, so I’ve just been quite restless, but I’m looking forward to getting back into the car and going racing. I think we’ve made some good progress over the first three rounds this year, and we’re looking to build on that in Miami. Homestead is very famous and well known, and it looks like it could be quite fun in a Formula E car. I’m excited to get back racing and making some more progress.”
David Beckmann, Driver, CUPRA* KIRO
“After the Spring break I feel fulfilled. So full. So filled. But I’m excited to get back into the car this weekend and I can’t wait to go racing. Homestead looks like a good circuit, and is a new track for Formula E, just like Jeddah, where we saw a good improvement in our performance. Our pace in Qualifying has been decent, and I think we’re also making good progress in race conditions as well. After a few months within the team, I feel very comfortable, and I’m confident that I can build on that to hopefully score my first points of the season this weekend. In Miami we’ll have great weather with great people and great fans, and I’m looking forward to it. With Monaco and Tokyo coming up soon, a good performance here could really give us some momentum.”
