CUPRA KIRO unveils GEN4 challenger, targeting breakthrough Formula E season

CUPRA KIRO unveils its Formula E GEN4 challenger at the Paris Motor Show as the American outfit targets a breakthrough performance in the 2026/27 season

CUPRA KIRO has lifted the covers off its new GEN4 racing car at the Paris Motor Show, marking the start of a new chapter for the team as the American squad sets its sights on the front of the grid for the 2026/27 FIA Formula E World Championship season.

The upcoming 2026/27 campaign will usher Formula E into its most advanced era to date with the arrival of GEN4, a new generation of racing car designed to push the boundaries of electric vehicle performance, efficiency, and technology.

Featuring 600kW of power, active all-wheel-drive and 700kW regenerative braking capabilities, GEN4 represents a significant leap forward for Formula E while for CUPRA KIRO, it marks a new opportunity to reset the benchmark.

A pair of pole positions, a victory on the streets of Tokyo, and a total of three podium finishes helped CUPRA KIRO to finish eighth in the Teams’ Championship last season.

Now, after completing its most successful campaign to date, the team enters the 2026/27 season with momentum, spurred on by the ultimate goal of consistently challenging Formula E’s top manufacturers.

Central to its progression, CUPRA KIRO is focusing on a step change across every area of its operations as the team competes with contemporary hardware for the first time, taking to the grid with the Porsche 975 RSE.

Using the latest innovations from Technical Partner, Porsche Motorsport, CUPRA KIRO enters the GEN4 era with a package that matches its ambitions, and with a chance to compete at the front, the team has no intention of wasting the opportunity.

The team’s progression is also reflected by its driver lineup, with Pepe Martí returning for a second season alongside new signing, Jake Hughes, with both drivers bringing valuable Formula E experience and proven talent to the cockpit.

The pairing of the Spaniard and the Briton represents another step forward in CUPRA KIRO’s ongoing development as Pepe’s continued progression blended with Jake’s experience and proven pace gives the team a strong and talented pairing for GEN4.

CUPRA KIRO’s GEN4 challenger bears an evolution of the visual identity that has become synonymous with the team since Kiro Race Co’s Co-Title Partnership with CUPRA started in 2024.

Kiro Race Co’s fluorescent yellow continues to remain at the heart of the design, complemented by the signature copper tones of CUPRA – two colours which have become a defining feature of CUPRA KIRO.

For GEN4, however, the design takes on a more aggressive character, with its bold lines reflecting the visceral driving experience of Formula E’s most powerful racing car to date.

With a new technical package, a renewed sense of ambition, and a constant desire to compete, CUPRA KIRO is better equipped than ever before to challenge in Formula E.

CUPRA KIRO will continue its preparations for the coming campaign with Pre-Season Testing on 16-20 November 2026 before the 2026/27 FIA Formula E World Championship gets underway on 18-19 December.

Jeremy Tarica, President, The Forest Road Company
“We’re incredibly proud to see Kiro Race Co enter its third season in Formula E and to unveil the car that will take us into this next chapter. In just two years, we’ve transformed this team to consistently defy expectations, both on and off the track. We’ve delivered meaningful sporting and commercial progress, however, we’re not here to stand still – we’re at the beginning of our journey. The foundations are now in place for us to take another significant step forward, and GEN4 gives us an opportunity to show what this organisation is capable of. We’re entering this new era with a real appetite to take on the giants of this sport. That’s the ambition we’ve always been building towards, and that mission starts today with the unveiling of our GEN4 car. I’m incredibly excited to see what comes next.”

Russell O’Hagan, Team Principal, CUPRA KIRO
“Unveiling our GEN4 car is a significant moment for the whole team. Collectively, we’ve put an enormous amount of work into preparing for this defining new era of Formula E, and launching our season today is the product of a huge amount of dedication made across the entire organisation. GEN4 represents a major step forward for Formula E, and in our technical package and driver lineup, we have a genuine opportunity to compete at the front of the field. We know that the level of competition will be extremely high, but we’re entering this season with a clear ambition to challenge and to establish ourselves as contenders. We made improvements to almost every area of the team over the last year, and now, we get the chance put our work to the test. There’s a real sense of faith and belief within the team, and we’re hungry to turn that into performance when we go racing later this year. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve.”
