CUPRA KIRO closes debut season with pole position in London

Dan Ticktum secures CUPRA KIRO's maiden Formula E pole position as David Beckmann claims first top 10 finish in 2024/25 finale

CUPRA KIRO completed its debut season in Formula E at the 2025 London E-Prix, with Dan Ticktum claiming the American squad’s first pole position while David Beckmann secured his first points finish of the campaign.

  • After claiming CUPRA KIRO’s first podium and win earlier in 2025, Dan secured the team’s maiden pole position in a clinical Qualifying performance. He started from sixth due to a grid penalty from Round 15 while David lined up 20th.

  • Dan was forced to pit with a puncture during the opening phase of the race and fought forward to sixth using Attack Mode but ultimately finished 14th after receiving two separate five-second time penalties.

  • David concluded his rookie season by securing his best result in Formula E, taking 10th place with a final lap overtake on Norman Nato. CUPRA KIRO’s Technical Partner, Porsche, meanwhile, reigned victorious in the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ Championship.

Alex Hui, Team Principal, CUPRA KIRO

“It’s difficult for me to put into words just how proud I am of what this team has achieved over the past 10 months. To close out our first season with a pole position, after already taking our first podium and win in Tokyo and Jakarta, speaks volumes about how much progress we’ve made. Dan’s performance in Qualifying was outstanding, and while his race didn’t unfold the way we hoped, the fight he showed today was made up of the same hunger that’s defined our entire campaign. Seeing David score his first point in Formula E was also a brilliant moment, and a very well-earned reward for the work that he’s put in this year. Season 11 was never about ticking boxes or chasing headlines for us. Our target was to build a strong foundation, set our own standards, and show what CUPRA KIRO can do. That’s exactly what we’ve done. I want to thank every member of the team and our fans who’ve supported us from the very beginning, and to congratulate our Technical Partner, Porsche, on winning the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ title. The season might be over, but for us, this is just the start.”

Dan Ticktum, Driver, CUPRA KIRO

“It’s been an up and down day. It was amazing to get pole, and that’s probably my highlight of the season. Qualifying is just about the car and the driver. No strategy, just flat out. I got the car in the window, and it was a special moment. The race was chaos as we envisioned. I got a puncture in the first 10 laps, fought my way through to sixth and then I got some ridiculous penalties from the stewards. I really don’t know what’s going on in that room sometimes, but I got driver of the day so people obviously saw through it. But an amazing season with the podium, the win, and today’s pole position. We ticked every box, it’s been very special and I’m very proud of everyone. Looking forward to next year.”

David Beckmann, Driver, CUPRA KIRO

“Overall, I’m very happy to get my first point of the season. On many occasions this year we were unlucky, and the first top 10 should have happened much earlier, but we made good progress to finally come away with points. Even though I feel like more was possible, I’m happy with our performance and coming through from 20th to finish 10th is a good achievement. I’m very grateful to the team for the support they have given me this year, and would like to congratulate Porsche for winning the Teams’ and Manufacturers’ title. Overall, it has been a very exciting season, and one to remember in any circumstance.”

Russell O’Hagan, Chief Operating Officer, CUPRA KIRO

“An incredibly frantic race to end the season, with action from start to finish. Dan put in a mega performance to bounce back from the puncture and progress the way he did today. The penalties are a very bitter pill to swallow, and we don’t see either as fair, but we won’t allow them to detract from what was a very strong performance. A big congratulations goes to David for getting into the points today too. It was great to see, and he deserved it. It goes to show that hard work and resilience pay off. Most importantly, I want to say a huge thank you to the team, Dan, and David for a season in which we took a defining step in becoming the team we want to be in the future. We will come into Season 12 fighting hard!”
